Honghuang: Daiguan Jiejiao — 280 million additional views and a repeatedly revised lead
This AI comic drama has a traceable audience result. Its clearest production account is that the lead character's final look took repeated human revision.

DataEye Short Drama Watch's own annual tally measures this title's added views during 2025. It is not its current lifetime total, unique viewers, paying audience or profit.
Check this resultXiaoxing Animation Screening Room released this fantasy AI comic drama on Douyin. DataEye places it fifth among Douyin-native comic dramas for added views in 2025. Art director Gao Qiyu, interviewed for a Jiangxi TV report, recalls revising the lead character until the final design worked. The sources show reach and human design work separately; neither establishes that one revision caused the views or that views produced profit.

Watch the work: what does 280 million measure?
The original post shows the work; the annual list measures added Douyin views in a defined period.
Open the video from Xiaoxing Animation Screening Room first and inspect its characters, pacing and visual form. DataEye Short Drama Watch's January 2026 annual list ranks the full title fifth among Douyin-native comic dramas, at roughly 280 million additional views in 2025, and names Xiaoxing as its theatre account. That is an audience measure with a named title, channel, period and compiler.
DataEye dates this theatre-account launch to August 9, 2025; a May 2026 local report relaying a Jiangxi TV interview instead says July of the previous year. The months conflict. We use the ranking's defined period for the view figure without claiming a settled premiere date. Live platform counts change, and the account's all-title total cannot be assigned to this single series.

Our analysis
The premise viewers saw, and the missing story-choice record
The fantasy serial format is visible, while project-specific rights, script and commissioning decisions lack an inspectable record.
DataEye places the title among male-targeted fantasy comic dramas. An iQiyi page of the same name describes a lead tasked with running Jiejiao, whose bluffs and words lead disciples to revelations, and lists 89 episodes. Its publisher is an iQiyi account named Liang Ce; we cannot establish that its cut, release version and rights match Xiaoxing's Douyin upload. The Douyin post remains our work entry; the iQiyi page is a same-title lead.
The released story invites analysis of a hook: the lead has limitations while others overestimate him. That is our reading of the work, not a documented story meeting. Rights clearance, writing roles, episode structure and any test that led the team to continue are not published as project-specific records. A comparable attempt would begin with rights to one's own story, not copying this premise.
An interview with Jiangyou Culture's founder in Business Management Review gives a team-level rationale: he treats comic dramas as fast-paced, visually led short dramas built around emotional hooks rather than long traditional-animation exposition. It helps explain the team's editorial emphasis, but is not the meeting record for choosing this specific Honghuang story. Alternative premises, rejected concepts and audience tests remain unknown.

Why the art director kept rejecting the lead's look
The art director describes the aim, repeated rejection and final approval, but has not shown rejected art or generation-by-generation inputs.
In a Jiangxi TV interview republished by Ganjiang Fabu, Jiangyou Culture art director Gao Qiyu says he kept asking how to make the lead more handsome. He repeatedly reconsidered, rejected and remade the design before approving a final form. His account reveals human taste and rework behind the character, but not the rejected images, model, prompts, references, generation count or approval criteria.
The honest comparison is between the final character in the original episode and the maker's account of repeated revisions. BitShovel cannot generate substitute 'failed drafts' and pass them off as this series' work. The record does not say whether the face, costume, proportions, framing or several conditions changed, and it cannot isolate character approval as the cause of the view count.

Which shots did AI make, and where does the record stop?
A report attributes the visuals to AI production; its shot-level tools and rework remain undisclosed.
The local report relaying Jiangxi TV says AI was used to create this comic drama's visuals. The art director's account shows that a person still had to decide when the lead was ready. No shot list, references, generation files, prompts, failed video, edit sheet or voice project for this particular title is public. A tool used on another team project cannot be assigned to each shot here.
If the makers later release working files, the useful addition would trace one actual shot's aim, first attempt, changed inputs, chosen cut and position in the finished film, subject to display rights. Until then this case cannot offer a pretend step-by-step recipe. A separate ZenStory sample provides inspectable storyboard and prompt files, expressly not this series' method.

After the views: who paid, and what cannot be calculated?
The series' audience response has a source; title-specific income, receipts, promotion and full costs do not.
DataEye's 280 million figure counts additional views. It does not show free versus paid viewing, platform shares, promotion spend, rights costs or cash received. No line-item income and cost ledger for this title is public. Company revenue, all-title views from the account's 79 series and general platform payment terms are not this title's income.
A May 2026 Yicai interview links a reported production cost above RMB 100,000, more than 30 million views and nearly RMB 300,000 in net proceeds to a 'first AI comic drama' shortened to Daiguan Jiejiao. A local report, however, names another earlier title, Mò Rì: Shí Jiān Zhī Wài, from February 2025; DataEye gives this series a different launch month and annual view measure. Title version, period and accounting scope do not line up, and no platform settlement is available. We keep those money figures as a research lead, not a claim on this case card.
A practical trial starts by testing whether a rights-cleared story reaches a defined audience, while recording episode production, rework, labour, promotion, platform terms and actual cash received. Character design is one possible role, and Gao's experience shows it involves sustained judgment. A hit series' reach cannot establish a new team's profitability.
