01 / HOW IT HELPS
Start with what it may help you do
What it can help with
When several coding agents work in parallel, important questions, approval requests, and failures are easy to miss across terminal windows. Heard speaks the moments that need you and summarizes the rest, so you do not have to keep watching the screen.
Who may find it useful
Developers on macOS 13 or later who run Claude Code, Codex CLI, or Codex App in parallel and want to hear key progress while looking away from the screen. It is not a fit for client code, secrets, full terminal logs, or regulated data until the actual data path is confirmed.
Current availability
A public product page with commercial access is available. Check it for pricing, free allowances, and account requirements.
A low-risk first try
Connect one agent to a non-sensitive test repository, choose Focus, and listen only for blocked work, decisions, failures, and completion. Run a task that finishes in a few minutes, compare every spoken alert with the terminal text, and confirm the speech and telemetry data paths before adding more projects.
02 / BEFORE YOU USE IT
Know these limits before you start
The website privacy page says only short snippets are sent and the daemon has no analytics, while the GitHub privacy file says it reads agent output, sends some text to TTS and Anthropic, and enables PostHog and usage telemetry by default. Those statements are not aligned. Installation instructions also remove the macOS quarantine flag. Managed subscriptions auto-renew and are generally non-refundable. Before using client code, secrets, or full logs, confirm the actual data path, disable optional telemetry, and test only on a low-risk repository.
Compared with other options
A system notification can only say that something happened, while the terminal preserves the full context. Heard sits between them by speaking why attention is needed. Self-hosting or local Kokoro offers more control over data; managed mode is easier to configure but sends some text to cloud services.
