Gemini 3.5 Transcribe enters public preview
Google offers streaming and prerecorded transcription across 85+ languages, with word timestamps and speaker labels for prerecorded audio. The launch announcement listed the macOS app as English-only; app availability should be checked separately from API capabilities.
With timestamps or speaker labels, prerecorded audio is limited to 30 minutes and cannot use smart mode or custom vocabulary. Attribution for three or more speakers remains experimental. We have not tested accuracy on noisy Chinese recordings.

Gemini adds agentic video understanding at up to 66% less cost
Google launched agentic video understanding across Gemini 3.7 Flash, 3.6 Flash, and 3.5 Flash-Lite: the models use native video tools to dynamically search, scan, and inspect target segments across visual frames, audio, and transcripts, replacing fixed-rate (default 1 FPS) static ingestion. Google reports up to 66% lower analysis costs, up to 88% fewer tokens, and up to 7% better accuracy on standard benchmarks, with the largest gains on long-form video. Sub-second moment retrieval, anomaly detection, and precise counting, live in Google AI Studio and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.

The "up to 66%/88%/7%" figures are vendor-reported benchmark ceilings, not independent reruns; integration effort and real-task performance remain unverified, and attention is not proof of fit.
