Separate current access from what follows

After the change, personal accounts without a plan retain Flash-Lite; AI Plus retains Flash-Lite and Flash; AI Pro and AI Ultra list all three models. Plus does not have one universal October 9 cutoff: Google says each user will receive an effective date by email.

The current overview still lists all three models, while the new notice shows access after the change. These describe different moments: present access and the upcoming plan. The notice concerns personal-account Gemini Apps; it does not establish the same schedule for work or school accounts, AI Studio or the API.

Compare with your materials and work in hand

If you use Gemini to write a notice, organize documents or discuss a plan, keep the source material, your refined instructions and the current draft. Once access changes, continue the same task with the same material and examine what carries through and where you still need to contribute. This is our suggested comparison, not a completed model-switch test.

The notice also lists low, medium and high effort, with Deep Think for AI Pro and AI Ultra. Higher effort uses more allowance; it adds a reasoning choice without proving every result improves. If a familiar model completes your everyday work, keep using that workflow; compare alternatives around a particular task when you need more reasoning.

Read model capability and product access separately

Our earlier Argon article examines longer tasks and independent evaluations, with initial access for invited testers. This plan table does not announce Argon in public Gemini or establish that paying gives access to it. A new model signals capability; the actual product entry determines what you can use today. Read those changes together.

For someone with an established routine, checking your entry and effective date, then examining results with existing material, is more useful than following names alone. Gems-to-skills migration concerns preserving a method; this change concerns model choice. They affect the same work through different updates.
