What it can help with

After a meeting, recordings, transcripts, summaries, and action items often end up across separate services, sometimes after the original audio is uploaded to the cloud. Meetily puts capture and local transcription in a desktop app, while letting the user choose local Ollama or configure external summary providers such as Claude, Groq, OpenRouter, and OpenAI.

Who may find it useful

Individuals and small teams who want control over meeting recordings and transcripts, will inspect model and storage settings, and use an Apple Silicon Mac or Windows x64 PC. Linux users need to build from source, while environments requiring centralized administration, formal certification, or participant recording without consent should not adopt it from marketing claims alone.

Current availability

An open-source project or live demo is available. Full use may still require installation or configuration.

A low-risk first try

Use a 30-second recording with no sensitive information and consent from everyone involved. Before installing, check the v0.4.0 system and signing details. Choose local transcription and a local summary model, confirm the recording and database folders, and disable any usage analytics you do not want. Compare the transcript with the audio, export one result, then locate and delete the test files from the configured storage path.

Know these limits before you start

Public material contains differences users need to resolve for themselves. The site often says “all local,” while the docs allow cloud and bring-your-own-key summary providers; speaker diarization is marked beta in the docs but still appears as coming soon in parts of the repository; and Community versus Pro boundaries are spread across pages. The repository privacy file still contains a date placeholder, and the security page makes strong GDPR- and HIPAA-by-design statements without a formal certification we could verify. The macOS release lists an updater signature but no separate DMG signature asset. Check the actual version and settings for network calls, telemetry, storage, deletion, signing, and organizational policy before use.

Compared with other options

Compared with a cloud-only meeting bot, Meetily can keep recordings and transcription on the device, while whether summaries leave it depends on the provider you select. Compared with QuickQuill on BitShovel, both focus on local meeting notes; Meetily Community covers Apple Silicon Mac and Windows and documents local or external summary configuration more explicitly, while QuickQuill focuses on a native Mac workflow. We have not installed them side by side and cannot claim one is more accurate or stable.
