Step 5 Preview: start with a room you can rearrange
An official bedroom-to-3D example makes the capability tangible. Connect it with independent evaluation, usage cost and the planned weights release.
Available through StepFun products and API. Open weights are planned for October 15; they should not be treated as downloadable today.
Rearrange the same room
StepFun’s Room Planner demonstration starts with a bedroom photograph and produces an editable 3D space. Its description shows moving and rotating furniture, then viewing the layout in first person.
Look for whether the bed and desk can be adjusted separately and whether paths remain understandable. This is an application built with model-assisted programming; a photograph is not an accurate construction survey.

Read performance alongside task cost
Artificial Analysis, read on September 21, reports an Intelligence Index of 44 and roughly 100 output tokens per second, while noting high token use. Fast generation and low cost for a complete task are different measures.
If you already use Astra, Opus or another assistant, compare with the same photo and request: which objects can change, whether one edit disrupts another, and whether the result can be saved and edited further. Scores provide context; the artifact shows task completion.

Separate today’s access from the weights plan
StepFun describes image input and a one-million-token context window. Products and API are available now, with weights planned for October 15. The first determines current access; the second concerns future self-hosting.
Start with a small creation you already wanted to revise. Record completion time, rework and actual usage. If your current tool already delivers, use the new model as a comparison before deciding whether to switch.
